As part of its strategic vision, the Administration of Customs and Indirect Taxes has set dematerialisation among its top priorities as the best means for simplifying customs procedures.
The reform project adopted is in line with the government's guidelines and international standards, and is expected to transform the current customs clearance system into a paperless process.
As a result, the physical submission of customs declarations is no longer required since January 2019. In addition, the customs clearance process was completely dematerialised (0 paper).
This reform contributed to:
- Simplifying the procedures concerning the customs clearance of goods
- Reducing costs and delays in processing cases and movement of economic operators;
- Increasing transparency and fight against corruption
- Controlling the traceability of information
- Enhancing the reliability of data
